Eddie Redmayne played straight man in a filmed sketch, in charge of testing James Corden’s dubious magical skills on The Late Late Show Wednesday. (Top: CBS, Bottom: my screenshots).

“You are the finest, loveliest, tenderest, and most beautiful person I have ever known- and even that is an understatement.”
— F. Scott Fitzgerald, “Letter to Zelda Fitzgerald,” 1939

Wherever you are in the world today, here’s something to be thankful for: a beautifully dressed Eddie who seems to be sort of channeling Professor Snape. His reactions to James Corden’s attempts at magic were hilarious – especially that little dance!

Eddie talks about Newt’s costume… & splitting his pants.
“Basically
Newt was described in the first script as ‘he walks his own walk & he’s
quite eccentric & he has this Buster Keaton like quality. When Colleen
& I worked out what his costume was, everything’s a bit short, everything’s
a bit tight. I sort of found his physicality. When I was coming back to the
second film, I was like ‘God, it’s gonna be weird to get back,’ & the
second we put on the costume, he appeared again. Until I split my pants –

Does Iris understand that her daddy is a wizard?
Eddie: She doesn’t get that I’m a wizard, but she has started
stopping in front of buses & pointing at the posters, going, ‘Dada?’(Excerpt from ‘The One Show’ 12 Nov 2018, video is here)
Some of the many expressions that make Eddie…Eddie. Obviously he is an incredibly talented actor, but I think part of that is how expressive he is. I also find it interesting that he can portray any emotion he chooses when acting & in character, but when he is just being himself, his emotions often get the better of him – for example when he broke down crying upon winning his Oscar.

One of the sweet quirks that makes Eddie… Eddie – the way he bites his lip when he’s nervous or trying to think what to say. (or just being Eddie…). Doesn’t it make you just want to give him a hug?
What better way to start your week than with Eddie Redmayne’s contagious grin? Don’t you love the ways his eyes crinkle when he smiles? This man smiles with his entire face & it’s like a ray of sunshine.
