Eddie talks about Newt’s costume… & splitting his pants. 

“Basically
Newt was described in the first script as ‘he walks his own walk & he’s
quite eccentric & he has this Buster Keaton like quality. When Colleen
& I worked out what his costume was, everything’s a bit short, everything’s
a bit tight. I sort of found his physicality. When I was coming back to the
second film, I was like ‘God, it’s gonna be weird to get back,’ & the
second we put on the costume, he appeared again. Until I split my pants –
he has these really tight trousers & yet he’s always doing this really
aggressive physical stuff, so there was a slightly embarrassing moment
when  Marco, who helps with my costumes,
was literally in my trailer sewing up the crack between my…”

Some of the many expressions that make Eddie…Eddie. Obviously he is an incredibly talented actor, but I think part of that is how expressive he is. I also find it interesting that he can portray any emotion  he chooses when acting & in character, but when he is just being himself, his emotions often get the better of him – for example when he broke down crying upon winning his Oscar.
