“You hear about that plot to bring Potema back to life? Nasty business, that.” Well, it was. And then he killed he necromancers involved, went into Solitude’s catacombs, and brought the Wolf Queen’s skull up from the depths to be cleansed by the local priest of Arkay. Didn’t mean he couldn’t talk about it, especially around the time of the Witches’ Festival. It was long passed, but the atmosphere was still hanging in the air like a cobweb. Enough to make him huddle over a warm drink in the Winking Skeever and strike up a bit of a conversation with the first person to enter the right radius for it. Not something he did often.

“ – I mean, I know we need a Septim on the throne right about now, but that’s going a bit too far, don’t you think?”

Anna had heard about it. She had even been staying around Dragon Bridge at the time, hearing the strange noises and seeing the strange lights that had turned out to be the necromancers. Thank the All-Maker that Varnius had done something about it.

“Maybe a less murderous Septim would have been better,” she replied, sitting down across from the man. “There’s a statue in the Imperial City just waiting to come back to life.”
